The Gurkha Memorial Fund UK is delighted to invite supporters, friends and members of the community to its Charity Dinner Evening on Friday 18 September 2026, raising vital funds for its Computer and Technology Education Project for rural schools in Nepal.

Event Details

The evening will take place at the Burlington Hotel, 3–5 Earls Avenue, Folkestone, Kent, CT20 2HR. Guests should arrive from 6:30pm for a 7:00pm start.

Tickets and Menu

Tickets cost £40 per person and include a special three-course Nepalese meal provided by The Gurkha Villa Restaurant in Ashford.

The menu includes:

• Onion bhaji

• Aloo dum
• Chicken wings
• Sel roti
• Chutney

Main courses and accompaniments:

• Pilau rice
• Plain rice
• Chicken curry
• Pork curry
• Lentils
• Mixed vegetables

• Papadum

Dessert:

• Yoghurt
• Gulab jamun

The evening will also feature a live band, music and cultural dancing, along with an auction and popular raffle draw featuring a selection of prizes.

Places are limited to 100 guests, so early booking is strongly recommended.

Supporting Education in Nepal

The Charity Dinner aims to raise £16,000 to help open a computer centre at another secondary school in a remote area of Nepal, with links to schools in Folkestone.

The proposed support includes:

• Desktop computers
• Training for a teacher
• A projector
• A printer
• CCTV equipment
• One year of technology support for schools needing these facilities

Previous Support

In 2021, the Gurkha Memorial Fund provided COVID-19 support including 30 oxygen cylinders, 10,000 face masks, 10,000 units of sanitising supplies and other medical items.

The Fund also organised food and clothing support for more than 200 households in Mechinagar, Jhapa, Nepal – Folkestone's twinned town.

It also provided and installed 11 desktop computers and furniture for the Folkestone Gurkhas Nepalese Community in Folkestone.
